2001-03-26 - 10:24 a.m. About Me A couple of years ago I tried writing an honest description of myself in my journal. I don't have it with me right now, so I'll add that at a later time, and for now fill in a couple of answers to a survey I was sent by a friend. Between the two, you might actually end up getting an honest description of me ;-) First of all a few basics : Name: Maria Nicknames: Miriam, Mir Age: 21 Location: Lyngby, Denmark Husband: None yet, but I have a wonderful boyfriend, whom I'm hoping will be my husband one day :-) Education: Am currently studying at the Technical University of Denmark, taking a masters in Information Technology. Favorite board game: Trivial Pursuit, Dingbats. It's not really a boardgame, but I really love "Who wants to be a Millionare" as well. Favorite soundtrack: I don't really listen to a lot of them, but it would have to be a soundtrack from some musical - i.e. with heaps of songs. Either Cliff Richard's "Heathcliff" or "Cats" I think. The first thing I think when I wake up in the morning: Please tell me it's not morning already! wonder if I have any interesting emails waiting for me. Roller coaster, scary or exciting? Exciting! I love roller coasters! My favourite being "Space Mountain" in Disneyland, Paris, with its loops, corkscrews etc. Favorite foods: Most Asian food - especially Thai, but nothing can beat the paraties(sp?) one of my best friends' mother makes. (she's from India)
Favourite candy: Jaffas!!!!! (a New Zealand treat) Chocolate or Vanilla: Chocolate to just eat, in cakes and on things (like ice cream), but vanilla for ice cream and milk shakes. Favorite Ice Cream: Stratiella (vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips). Do you like to drive? Depends on where I'm driving. Usually yes, but if there's a lot of trafic, bad roads conditions, or I don't really know where I'm going, then no. Storms-- Cool or Scary? VERY cool! I remember some time ago I was driving home from orchestra (I used to play the flute in a concert band) in the middle of a big thunder-lightening storm. I had stopped at a trafic light, and it was just about to turn green, when there was the most amazing lightening just over us. The person in the car next to mine actually forgot to drive when the lights turned green ;-) If you could meet one person, dead or alive, Who would it be? My great-grandmother who died when I was 5. Favorite poet: The Danish poets Emil Aarestrup and Claus Holm. The New Zealand poet, Bub Bridger, The Canadian poet Lucy Maud Montgomery. Favorite pet: my best friend's cat, Charlie. Favorite Soft Drink: Lemonade Dream Job: Children's Book Store Owner (like Meg Ryan's in "You?ve Got Mail") What is on the walls in your bedroom? A cross hanging just over my bed, a picture of a sunset with a verse from the Psalms written on it, photos of my friends in New Zealand. Glass half empty or half full? If it's being filled up - half full, if it's being emptied - half empty. So what does that make me ;-) Favorite movies: You've Got Mail, Whole Nine Yards, Neil, What Women Want Favorite actor/actress: Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts Lefty or righty: Lefty, but other than writing, I can do most things well with my right hand as well. Favorite color: Used to be red, now it's dark blue/green/purple. Favorite season: Early summer - still has the freshness of the spring, and is warm enough to walk around without a jacket, without being too warm. Favorite Books: WAY too many to mention, I'll have to make a seperate page of this sometime. My favourite authors can be found on my profile page though. I've lived 2 years in Palmerston North, New Zealand, and absolutely LOVED it! I'm wanting to go back there as soon as possible. The people are friendly, the climate nice, and the nature just amazing! If you want to see photos, check out http://www.karal.com/picture-gallerys/ and then click on either New Zealand 1 or New Zealand 2 I speak English and Danish fluently, understand Swedish and Norwegian, and do my best to forget all the German I've ever learned. I am a born again Christian. In Denmark I go to a Lutheran Church, in New Zealand, either an Anglican or a Baptist church, so I don't really belong to any specific denomination. I am an avid bookworm - some people sleep to relax or stress out, I read! There... I guess that will do for now... at least until I add my "About me" entry from my off-line journal.
